The Nike Jordan shoes to avoid the Ankle Sprains

Nowadays major of the Nike’s basketball shoes are made of air cells which appear to be uncomfortable yet and most importantly they can cause ankle sprains. While the Jordan shoes can help in preventing ankle sprains and here are just some of the qualities of Jordan shoes which help in preventing ankle sprains basing on basketball players.

First because of the Comfort of Jordan shoes, comfort is one of the single and most important things that anyone could look for in any kind of shoe. If you know much about basketball, then you will agree with me that with all the running and cutting done in the game, you will need a shoe that will give some comfort when you make that cut. If your shoe is not comfortable, then you might just fall for that broken ankle. Jordan shoes will offer the kind of comfort that you completely need. So it can meet your requires.

Then the weight of Jordan’s shoes is lighter. On a basketball game, the weight of your shoes has the decided factor between the win and lose. Jordan shoes will provide you with this kind of weight, they are of a higher quality and their weight for the game is just perfect.

Traction power will always be almost unavoidable especially when you play on the hardwood. If your shoes have less traction on the forefoot and the heel then the probability of getting an ankle sprain is almost 100%. Jordan shoes find its way to prevent player ankle sprains through the traction on both the forefoot and the heel.

The Ankle Support is probably a tough characteristic for a basketball shoe. It has a good ankle support especially all the moves in the game and when you got to do the cuts. This however might not be as important in preventing knee injuries.

At last the Jordan shoes have a great style. It will provide you with all the styles you need. And they have great tractions just like I mentioned earlier that will help you prevent ankle sprains. Also they are as well cheaper Jordan shoes and therefore you won’t have to worry much about the amount you will need to pay for them.

The Nike Jordan shoes to avoid the Ankle Sprains

I just started running again after not running for a long time. I used to use the Nike shox TL4 shoes but they?

are no longer being sold. I am considered overweight and I have knee issues with other shoes other than the Nike Shox TL4s. Can anyone recommend a running shoe that is comparable to the TL4s? By the way I like running distance and I would really like to pick it up again to shed my weight and not be in pain at the same time. Any answers will be great, thanks.

In my opinion nikes are horrible shoes to run in but that’s just me. I would recommend going to your local running specialty store and getting your feet and arch and stuff checked out by an expert, or looking into one of the more supportive shoes on this page. http://www.asicsamerica.com/products/category.aspx?PARENT_CATEGORY_ID=250001538

How to Choose the Right Running Shoe

Running is one type of physical work out, which qualifies for all body activity requirements. Day by day medical science has unleashed its efficacy and people are increasingly inclined towards running for stress release and health care.

Running shoes have also evolved with the passage of time. Earlier there was a common style of jogging shoes that were used by everyone. Since all foot types are not same, so are all shoe types. If chosen adequately, these shoes can help you avoid any chances of injury, undue pressure over your joints, and will protect your back. At the same time it will make running a relaxing experience. Facing a wall full of shoes can be detrimental, confusing as it may be, we’ll try to cover all that is required for a good set of runners.

1.Try to look out for a good running shoe store. Consult your running partners or friends.

2.Check out the sole of your old runners. Holes or wear out at specific areas indicates pressure points of your foot.

3.Check the balance of the same old shoe on a flat plain. If they bend towards the middle, your new shoe needs to be overall more even. On the other hand if they fall across side ways, you need shoes that have good absorbers.

4.Take a look from the top. If you notice your big toe area too big or small, and you had felt uneasy; then this time you need a bigger and wider type.

5.What’s the normal distance you go? More you jog; costlier your shoe should be to protect your foot. Shorter distance means shoes ranging in basic types.

6.When you visit the shoe store, tell the assistant about your observations with your old shoe, he should be able to figure out what you mean. If not try another store.

7.Time for test drive. Most of the stores will let you try them with a little stroll on the street; feel them, try as many as you want, one should fit you good. Take at least ten minutes to ascertain how they will respond later.

8.When purchasing; get the best one possible, you’ll possess them for your long time well being. Your health, recovery and activity will depend on them during times of exertion. Don’t pass them once you find the right one. Take them start filling them.

Caution:

1) Shoes that cause discomfort or bite you are not for you. Whenever they start doing it, find a new pair.

2) Get friends with your shoes slowly. Take smaller routes in beginning or they may give you sore feet or blisters.

3) Continuing to fill them, when their life is over is going to damage your feet.

4) When heading for a marathon, never ever wear a brand new pair.

A Poem.. FREE range Variety I am sure, would you critique, por favor?

.

I traveled long upon the roads
Roads that no one travels often
Often burdened with heavy loads
Loads that my reserve would soften

Shoes worn out my sole forsaken
Forsaken on a road made of rocks
Rocks, whose sharpness, left me shaken
Shaken loose of time and her clocks

Clocks whose ticking drives me ever
Ever onward running, walking
Walking, quelling, my endeavor
Endeavor to ignore mocking

Mocking me, I stare now coldly
Coldly watching lizards sunning
Sunning on the rocks quite boldly
Boldly now my clock still running

Running out of energy, raw
Raw and, thirsty in need of rest
Rest is waiting ‘neath tree I saw
Saw in distance, I’ll do my best

Best to pace my steps now slowly
Slowly down my body tumbles
Tumbles into beckoning lea
Lea‘s hospitality humbles
Me

The abab tetrastichs of (roughly) iambic tetrameter and climbing rhyme mark this as a partenza represa. If I were to raise any objection, it is that your diction does not lend itself to maintaining pure iambic feet, but rather to frequent changes between iambs and trochees; that’s distracting, and you have perhaps a few too many of these transitions. The problem of course is that those transitions mar the musicality of your poem; a few personalize, and indeed enhance the meaning and readability, but too many, especially those that seem accidental, is not desirable. However, unless you’ve written many of these, this is actually a very solid beginning. Good work in meeting a form with many challenges brave lady…

Ball of Foot Pain (Metatarsalgia) explained…

This article sheds some light on a common type of foot pain called Metatarsalgia, more commonly known as Ball of Foot Pain.

Metatarsalgia – Ball of Foot Pain

Pain in the balls of the feet (Latin: Metatarsalgia) is a very common foot complaint, in particular for women. Most women who wear high heels or tight fashion shoes (or who have done so in the past) are likely to suffer from Metatarsalgia. Men can also suffer from this condition, especially if they have to wear hard shoes or boots without any cushioning inside, and their job requires standing or walking for prolonged periods. For example workboots or military/police boots can easily cause ball of foot pain.

What are the symptoms of Ball of Foot Pain?

People suffering from Metatarsalgia often experience a burning sensation under the ball of the foot. Sometimes combined with a sharp, tingling sensation near the toes (this condition is called Morton’s Neuroma, see further below). The pain can also be stabbing pain that comes and goes throughout the day. In some cases people experience a feeling similar to having a pebble sitting under the forefoot.

Ball of Foot pain worsens when wearing high heels/fashion shoes for a longer periods of time or, for men after walking long distances in hard shoes. Typically people with Ball of Foot pain also display excessive callous formation under the balls of their feet.

What causes Metatarsalgia?

Typically, the two main causes for ball of foot pain are:

- wearing high heels/fashion shoes

- over-pronation (fallen arches)

Most (young) women like to look stylish and wear a shoe with a medium to high heel. The problem with high heels is that your bodyweight is not evenly distributed across the underside of the foot, but rather 80% of your weight pushes down on only one area of the foot, the forefoot area. i.e. the balls of your feet. This is totally unnatural and before long the entire forefoot structure collapses, leading to constant pressure and friction in the ball of the foot. The body reacts and builds up thick layers of callous in this area which in turn leads to a burning sensation under the foot.

Also, as part of the ageing process women tend to lose the bulk of the shock-absorbing ‘fibro-fatty’ pad under the ball of the foot. Without this natural padding pain develops due to the pressure on skin over bone.

Another cause of Ball of Foot Pain is over-pronation. Over-pronation (or excess pronation) occurs in a lot of people, especially as they get older. The arches drop and feet and ankles tend to roll inwards. Excessive pronation is a major contributing cause to heel pain and heel spurs, but it also can lead to Metatarsalgia. As the longitidunal arch collapses so does the transverse arch. The transverse arch is the arch that runs across the forefoot and is formed by the 5 metatarsal bones. The bones in the foot drop and the structure of the foot is severely weakened. When we wear shoes that do not provide enough support and cushioning excess pressure is placed on the ball of the foot and often pain is experienced.

Over-pronation, combined with wearing hard, flat shoes and walking on hard surfaces such as concrete, pavements, tiled floors etc often leads to ball of foot pain, but also other common complaints including aching legs, knee pain and lower back pain.

Treatment of Ball of Foot Pain (Metatarsalgia)

For ladies’ high heel and fashion shoes there is a new, unique solution to ball of foot pain: Footlogics ‘Catwalk.’ New from Spain these specially designed insoles restore our natural body balance by supporting the longitundinal arch, as well as the metatarsal bones and they shift bodyweight away from the forefoot towards the arch and heel. The result is that your bodyweight is more evenly distributed over the entire surface of the feet, and not just pushing into the balls of the feet. Thus, the insole prevents excessive pressure and friction in the ball of the foot are, and greatly reduces/eliminates the pain and burning sensation under the feet – especially with longer periods of standing or walking.

In case of regular flat footwear – whereby Metatarsalgia is caused by over-pronation – a full-length orthotic insoles with arch support as well as metatarsal support is recommended to prevent and relieve pain the ball of the foot.

Removal of excess callous by a Pedicurist, Chiropodist or Podiatrist is highly recommended to relieve ball of foot pain. You can also remove hard skin and callous yourself by means of daily light abrasion (using a pumice stone or fine grit foot file).

Choose the right footwear..

Shoes that are very narrow in the forefoot force the metatarsal bones together, pinching nerves and blood vessels that run between the bones. Continued use of shoes that are too narrow can cause one or more of the metatarsal bones to either shift up or down within the transverse arch, causing the arch to completely collapse.

On the other hand, shoes that are too wide can cause shearing stress under the foot as it slides around, causing callus to build up under the ball of the foot and under the toes. A narrow foot in a wide shoe will slide forwards, causing compression and curling of the toes. By allowing your toes to curl inside a shoe, you disturb the resting positions of your extensor and flexor muscles. Over time, this can result in fatigue and even cramp.

Thin soled shoes or shoes without any innersole cushioning will transfer all the hard impact with man-made surfaces directly into the bones of your feet, stimulating callous formation. So always buy shoes with plenty of cushioning and support, or wear orthotics inside your shoes.

Ill-fitting footwear should be replaced by anatomically correct, well-balanced and cushioned shoes. Avoid the use of high-heeled shoes or only wear high heeled shoes for no more than a few hours per day.

If problems persist, please consult a podiatrist.

What are the best running shoes for asphalt & concrete streets? My knees have been killing me.?

Please recommend shoes for narrow feet.

Well it sounds like you need better knees instead of better shoes because the shoes wouldn’t be causing it

Ipod Running Chip and Non-Nikes?

Hi there. Is there a way to use my ipod / nike running chip when i am not wearing my nike sneakers?

YES!! I went to www.shoepouch.com. They have a little pouch designed specifically for the nike ipod chip and it ties into your shoe laces. They even have eight different colors, and it’s only about $10. I use it with my Brooks running shoes and it works great!

Oh, and btw, I’ve read reviews that say NOT to cut into your shoe or gels insoles, because it doesn’t work as well…plus it could ruin your shoe. Besides, insoles cost as much as the pouch anyway, and you have to replace them…

Barefoot Running And Blisters: 6 Things You Can Do

The good news is, most of the blisters you get with shoes will not happen when you are barefoot running. The reason for this is, most shoe-running blisters occur where the shoe is rubbing on your foot, and that simply can’t happen with barefoot running!

The bad news is, you will still get blisters when barefoot running, but only on the bottoms of your feet.

The kinds of blisters you can get on the soles of your feet when barefoot running vary from small, white blisters, to big, red blood blisters; to the ugliest blister of all: big blood blisters that are actually underneath the thick pads or calluses on your feet.

The most important thing to remember is you want to minimize the number of blisters you get barefoot running in the first place.

Here are some ways to minimize the blisters that you get from barefoot running:

1. Lift your feet cleanly up and down.

Blisters are a result of friction, so as you are barefoot running you want to place your foot so as not to create friction. You need to concentrate on lifting your foot (from the knee, not by pushing off) cleanly up and and down. Don’t let your foot drag along the pavement when it lands, and don’t let it push off from the ground while barefoot running either.

2. Keep the pressure off your toes.

Some people have a tendency to put too much weight on their toes and the inside of their foot when barefoot running, and this can create big blisters especially on the big toes. The correction for this is again, not to let your big toes push off at all, and also to shift your weight off the insides of your feet, and keep it more to the outer sides of your feet. Keeping your toes lightly on the road, and this should help the number of toe-blisters you can get barefoot running.

3. Don’t do barefoot running in the rain or when it’s wet.

Trying to go out and do barefoot running while it is raining or still wet on the roads can give you what I call “dishpan feet” – the bottoms of your feet get waterlogged and the skin can not only blister put start to peel off very easily. Avoid (or at least limit your time) barefoot running in the rain.

Here’s how to deal with blisters you get barefoot running despite all your precautions:

1. Take some time off.

If you really love barefoot running, you will take a day (or maybe 3 or 4) to let the blister on your foot go down and heal. I find that once the blister is totally flat and hard I can go out again, if I don’t overdo it immediately.

2. Use Moleskin to pad around the blister.

You can get Moleskin at most pharmacies and running stores. You want to be careful how you put it on though. What you want to do is get or cut a piece that is in a round or oval shape, larger than the blister, and be sure to cut out any of the inside that would touch the blister. That way, when you put the Moleskin on, it should not be touching the blister at all, but should be acting as a kind of lift or pad around it, keeping it off the ground pressure while you are out barefoot running. Note: If the Moleskin will not stay on, you can use duct tape to hold it on better.

3. Use Benzoin, rubbing alcohol or iodine to disinfect the blister area.

Benzoin has the nice property of also making the area of your foot “stickier” in a way that will help to hold on any Moleskin or tape you use on it so you can keep barefoot running afterwards. Rubbing alcohol or iodine should be used every night to disinfect the blister area.

And that’s it – the 3 best ways to avoid getting blisters while barefoot running – but if you do, then there’s 3 more ways to deal with them so you can keep on barefoot running.

And that’s the whole point, right?

How do I get rid of shoe odor?

I run XC and it rained at our last meet and my shoes got soaked. I let them dry out and they smell horrible.
I washed them and then dried them and they still stink.
What can I do about them?

sprinkle baking soda on the insides of them and let them sit overnight (or longer) the baking soda will soak up all (or at least most) of the odor..then just sjake them out, or vacuum out your shoes

Aging Baby Boomers and Injuries

After the Second World War, upon the return of the American soldiers back to their homes, there had been an unprecedented population explosion between the years 1946 and 1964. The epoch was coined the baby boomer generation. This generation had marked outstanding achievements in almost every aspect of living. They also made significant contributions in in many fields.

For these reasons, baby boomers had been the popular subject of studies and surveys. Baby boomers are enthusiastic and active community of people who are known for being independent. However, the baby boomers are currently entering the inevitable phase of old age. They now range from forty-two to sixty years of age.

Nevertheless, the baby boomers are still the generation that imparts the virtues of labor and being active. And to act what they had just preached, baby boomers have been found to be obsessed with exercising. It is because exercise and sports are the simplest way to stay active and to slow down the aging process. Unfortunately, the baby boomers are not exempted to the rule of “too much for something”. Now, the term “boomeritis” was coined to signify the consequence of devouring too much on exercise.

Reports of the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the boomers’ injuries had caused 488 million hours of labor for health practitioners in the past year. The year 2005 recorded over a million injuries which resulted to 365 thousand visits to hospitals. And an estimated nineteen billion dollars were spent for health management of the baby boomers the past year.

Particularly in Windsor, Ontario the baby boomers at the age of 50 still push their bodies hard to exercise. This resulted to tendonitis, arthritis in knees and hips, bursitis and other traumatic health conditions. The popular reason for visiting the doctors was due to colds, but for baby boomers it is the wear and tear injuries.

In Windsor, Ontario Canada, knee replacements hiked to fifty percent since 1995 until 2000. Presently, there are additional centers to perform knee operations to address the needs of the aging baby boomers who are suffering from these injuries.

To avoid undergoing repeated operations due to injuries, the following are some pointers for aging baby boomers who are advocates of the active lifestyle.

The primary rule is to choose the apt exercise according to your health condition. For the aged boomers, jogging can be very exhausting to their joints compared to swimming and walking. It is because jogging involves severe pressure especially on the knees. When doing an exercise or engaging to sports, it is important to listen to your body. When the body starts to experience pains, it is a way of telling you to ease off.

Exercise is not forbidden for aging baby boomers, in fact it is recommended to be part of their everyday routine. On the other hand, moderation is advised. Baby boomers are devoted to their sports in their younger years. But even so, the activities that you used to accomplish effortlessly may need some modifications already. It is because even athletes experience wear and tear of bones and tissues.

To enhance the production of healthy collagens, which are responsible for the cartilage, you must be properly nourished with vitamin C. Citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C. Moreover, healthy foods will equip you with the needed nutrients to sustain your activities.

Another helpful tip for aging baby boomers is to perform warm up exercises first before engaging to vigorous ones. Proper stretching of muscles for at least three minutes will do. This will help avoid breaking the bones and undergoing artificial implants.
Use only the proper equipment such as proper shoes, gears and gadgets. These things can either give you a good workout or a bad injury. Also, follow the proper techniques of the sports and activities that you do.

When you are undergoing a fitness program, it will be helpful to make variations. The combination of the different kinds of exercises such as aerobic activities combined with strength training will make the bones stronger and more flexible.

Despite the adversities of aging, baby boomers are still playing the role of being the active generation. And up to date, they pursue that reputation.

Can the wrong shoesize make shoes painful to wear?

I think I’m a 10.5 in shoesize (men’s). For the longest time I’d wear 11.5s and 11s and never realized I probably really am a 10.5. But last year when I started my job working 8 hours walking on cement floors I realized that the Nike running shoes I was wearing (in a size 11) were extremely painful to wear after a short while. I went and got a pair of Nike Vomero 4s because they’re the most cushioned shoe Nike sells, but I found that I could wear 10.5s and I got them in 10.5s. For a year they were the most comfortable shoe and ONLY shoe that I could wear at work without pain. But I bought a pair of the Vomero 5s, the sequel to the shoes I wore all year, but in size 11. They, like the original pair of shoes I tried (that were size 11), were very painful after a day of working.

Now is it just that they changed something in the shoe, or is it because I went up half a size?

I have wide feet, with my index toe longer than the “big toe”.

If your shoes are too big, they won’t form to your foot properly, and could cause pain from the friction. Try going back to the 10.5.
