How can I afford the kind of clothes I like??

okay, so, i’m only 13 and need money. i used to not care what about what i looked like and just kept my natural hair in a low ponytail with long baggy short and a long baggy shirt and plain jeans every day with running shoes and whatever socks i could find. recently, i have found the world of fashion, there’s just one problem, i can’t afford it. i like hollister, kinda abercrombie, aeropostale, roxy, and definitely american eagle. they’re just way too expensive for me. i’ve tried ross and tj maxx, but they get kinda the rejects although i have gotten some cute clothes there. but they are still too expensive 4 me cuz i have to buy my own clothes. i’ve tried ebay, but even there its getting kinda expensive with brand names. the question is, how can i afford the clothes i like. i would really appriciate your advice. thanks and God bless you!!!

go goodwill!!! i’ve gotten american eagle jeans there. i’ve seen all kinds of brand names there, and it’s cheap. my favorite jeans came from goodwill, 5 dollars, when they would be around 70 bucks new in the store! i know a lot of people might laugh at goodwill shopping, but who cares? if you can still get the brand name stuff, some of it looking brand new, why not save some money??? almost all of my clothes are from goodwill, but no one would ever know that unless i told them.

Clarks Shoes and the “soul of Africa”charity Foundation

Clarks Shoes have been making foot-friendly shoes and leading innovation since the 1800s. Founded by Cyrus Clark in the little village of Street, Somerset, Clarks began making shoes in 1830 when Cyrus’ brother James began making and selling sheepskin slippers. In the earliest years, James Clark introduced his ‘Hygienic Line’ of shoes, which followed the line and shape of the foot. In 1856, the company bought newly invented Singer sewing machines to produce shoes more efficiently.

Early on, Clarks made their reputation for stylish and comfortable shoes. That reputation was cemented in the years after World War II when the Clarks moved into the world markets. Nathan Clark introduced shoes modeled on the comfortable suede boots he and fellow army officers had found in the Cairo bazaars, and the Desert Boot became a global sensation. In the 1960s, Clarks followed up the success with the Wallabee, a simple moccasin style that quickly became a classic.

Clarks has continued to make foot-friendly shoes throughout the century, and now, nearly 180 years after the founding of Clarks, the small company that started with a pair of sheepskin slippers is one of the largest shoe manufacturers in the world. Last year, sales of Clarks shoes topped £921 million. The company employs over 12,000 employees worldwide, and makes over 41 million pairs of shoes each years.

But none of those shoes is as important to one member of the Clark family as those that are hand-stitched in South Africa by the women of the Soul of Africa organization. In 2003, Lance Clark visited a small community in South Africa that had been ravaged by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. South Africa has been hit hard by HIV, and nearly 2 million children already carry the virus. Many are already orphaned, left behind by parents who have died of HIV, and many of those orphans do not carry the virus, but live lives that have been affected by it.

While visiting South Africa in December 2003, Lance Clark met Sarah Gedye, a woman who had set up an orphanage to house children that lost their parents to the AIDS epidemic. The facility was no more than a shell in the village of Durban, in need of all basic amenities, even beds and washbasins. Clark made a personal contribution, but soon realized that so much more was needed than he could do on his own.

That realization was the start of Soul of Africa, an organization that teaches young women affected by HIV a marketable skill and helps them become independent by paying them a living wage. All the shoes made by Soul of Africa are handmade from start to finish – from the cutting of the pattern to the final hand stitching. The shoes, in several different styles, are sold throughout the UK and several other countries for £29.99 (about $70 USD), with all manufacturing profits going to support the children and families of Durban and extend the good that the orphanage can do.

To date, Soul of Africa has raised more than $1 million, all of which has been used to provide a better living environment for the children of the orphanage. Sales of Soul of Africa shoes has provided beds, linens, desks, furniture, running water, bathroom and kitchen facilities, crockery and other necessities of living.

There are plans to build more houses in conjunction with the orphanage, homes where they can live with foster mothers in stable families. The profits earned by the sale of Soul of Africa shoes have also built a school where the children can receive a good education and begin building for a better future.

The Soul of Africa program does not stop there. The young women who make the shoes are among the minority who hold regular full time jobs. Their earnings support themselves and their families, bringing them a sense of empowerment and pride and giving them a new lease on life.

Since its beginnings, Soul of Africa has set up a trust that has funded other projects, making it a seed of change in South Africa. In conjunction with the Rotary Clubs of South Africa, Soul of Africa is working on identifying providers of early childhood care in the villages and cities, and working to provide them with buildings, educational equipment, fencing, toilets, food, training and assistance with health care. The Child Development Care Centers provide much needed preschool care and day care in an area where children would otherwise often be neglected because of a lack of resources.

The Soul of Africa also funds primary school scholarships for children who would not otherwise be educated, sports scholarships to assist gifted athletes and the Granny Project to give financial aid to those women in rural areas who are trying to care for children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.

Which soccer shoes should I buy?

I play on both soft and hard grounds… (cement and artificial grass)
I suffer from ingrown toenails very often..
I have flat feet
My feet are wide
I am not that slow, but my current shoes do not help me in running…

which soccer shoes should I buy? which ones are the best for :
toe protection, ball control, speed, good for free kicks, …
I am a defender – winger… if that matters in any way… thanks..
give me the complete name of the shoes please :)
Well considering that my feet are wide.. i heard that Puma are the best…
I asked for a full name :)
like: Nike Mercurial Vapor.. for example..
the cement is soft… similar to that of futsal.. come on.. :D .. hehe..

Well , your soft ground (artificial grass/turf) can use turf or normal FG shoes. (but I do question you playing on cement, because it can tear up the ball pretty easily.)

For your feet, I would recommend Adidas Predator Powerswerves because they’re like an “all-around” boot. There’s 3 versions of this shoe (and for different prices, depending on your budget):

-Absolute: (I own a pair and love em ^^ )around $200, they’re made out of ULT-K (calfskin) leather that will fit to your foot better that some other leathers. They also have a “powerswerve” technology, created by Adidas. Here’s the link to find out about it: http://www.adidas.com/campaigns/ussoccer2008/content/ussoccer2008.asp?adidas_cc=us§ion=intro_film [it's the upper right hand side plus sign - put your cursor over it, and lick "see how it works" for a video.)

-Absolions: around $90 and made out of the same material as Absolutes, they're a cheaper verion of the Absolutes, only lacking the "powerswerve" technology.

-Absolados: around $40, they're the cheapest version of the Adidas Predator Powerswerve you'll find. They're made out of synthetic leather, which will not fit your foot as well.

All 3 of these boots have a flap to cover your strikezone, so it'll help you have a smoother strike on the ball and a cleaner cross, clear, shot, etc.

Here's some websites that you can browse around to find the boot.

http://www.worldsoccershop.com

http://www.soccer.com (sometimes known as eurosport)
http://www.prodirectsoccer.com (this is an online european store, and has its prices in pounds [i think]. You can change the currency by choosing the USD, euro, or pound by clicking the money sign under the “Search” and “Help” tabs.)

http://shop.bigsoccer.com/

And if not the Adidas boots, then I would also recommend the Nike T90 Laser II’s. They fit nicely for wide feet, and have a strikezone with a grip (Nike T90 symbol, circle-ly direction/manner) that will help you curl the ball and send it where you want easier.

Hope I helped! =D

im 6’5 250 pounds, and i want to get into jogging/running. need starting tips?

So im not fat, i actually have a 6 pack for some reason, all i do is play video games so i dont know where it came from, i just feel like im out of shape but i have alot of energy. so me and a friend were gona start running, and i ran into a problem. so i bought some new shoes, i think the
-oasics gel 1140 size 14. and i went for a short jog and my anckels really hurt, i mean the shoes fit good but i dont know if continuing with them will lead to injury or something.

All i was wondering, is if anyone here is like me, really big with big feet =/ and maybe they have gone through teh same thing. i want to be able to run out of energy, not stop because of pain.

few other things, so should i just go out and jog? or is there a technique to it.
thats pretty much it, was going to go out tommoro night, i dont like running in 100 degrees, so we were gona go out at night, just wanted some starter tips.

If you are a starter, dont run, it could seriously injure your legs.

For two weeks from now, just walk, and do some intermittent running for say 30 metres in between, then resume your walking. Not briskly, but ordinarily.

Go out on foot when the climate is bearable and pleasent, not hot.

Ask your question after two weeks of my schedule, and tell me what you felt like doing and what you did, apart from just walking. I will tell further.

Top Tips For Buying Footwear on Amazon texas

Purchasing the ideal pair of boots or ladies’s shoes, especially with such a big variety of styles on offer, could be a daunting prospect. If you’re on the lookout for designer shoes then the money invested in this choice can be substantial, so there are a few things to think about before you make your final call. Here are the top 10 tips for purchasing women shoes.

Know your size

It may seem obvious, but many girls suffer discomfort because they do not know their precise shoe size. Every girl’s feet are dissimilar, and the generic sizes don’t necessarily give you the best fit. Like clothing manufacturer’s sizes, women’s shoe sizes can change dramatically – a size five in one shop or retailer could be absolutely different from a size 5 from an online supplier. Remember the right width is equally as important, so look for a provider that offers a range of width fittings and take the time to get your feet measured exactingly. A couple of wide fit shoes could make all of the difference comfortably.

The significance of a good fit

Following on from the issue of the correct size is the correct fit. This doesn’t just apply to your foot – if you’re buying two boots, for instance, you can also need to think about your calf fitting or the length of your leg to guarantee the boot fits correctly. A badly fitting pair of trainers will be uncomfortable and won’t look their best.

Budget

Know your financial position. An actually top quality pair of boots that will cost a touch more will last you much longer and be a better investment in the long run than a cheap pair that falls apart after only two weeks.

Occasions

If you are looking for two girls’s shoes for a special occasion, take under consideration the kind of event you are attending ( an open-air event is perhaps not the best place to wear high heels ). Consider that you may be on your feet for a long time, so again, comfort is of equal importance as looks.

Leather or man made?

This is truly down to personal choice, but leather has the benefit in that it is much more durable than man made fabrics and will stretch quickly to fit your foot perfectly. [**] if you’re searching for summer style sandals, fabric uppers can be much more content to wear, keeping your feet cooler than leather uppers.

skechers shoes texas

colour

Again, the colour you choose is very much your private call, but take into consideration what kind of outfits you may be wearing the shoes with, your own skin tone and colouring and whether your designer shoes are just an one-season fashion buy or something you will need to wear again. If you’re on the lookout for something that will transcend fleeting fashions, opt for the conventional brown or black as these have a tendency to be perennial tops.

Open or closed toe styles?

For summer wear, nothing beats the comfort and liberty of 2 sandals. They permit your feet to ‘breathe’ and are comfy for all-day wear. [**] if you are in a more formal setting, a classic pair of women court shoes suggests a more professional attitude. Shoes can reflect a great amount about the wearer, so consider what sort of impression you wish to make.

Formal or informal?

Formal ladies’s shoes cover a good range of styles, from classic courts to kitten heels. For a really surprising look, 2 designer’s shoes with high heels combined with formal evening wear truly can give an outfit that ‘wow’ factor. Less formal wear can be anything from two summer sandals to knee length boots worn with jeans. Those same boots mixed with a business suit can cross the boundary between formal and informal, but again, choose a pair that fit perfectly to maximize both comfort and looks.

Buying online

Once you have your exact size ( including the correct width fitting ), it’s easy to buy ladies’s shoes on the internet. Online suppliers also have a tendency to carry a better range of fittings and can be less expensive than many high street stores, so it’s worth checking out the web for a good pair of designer shoes.

Returns policies

If you’re not pleased with your designer shoes, you may wish to return them for a refund or exchange them for an alternative pair of women’s shoes. Before you make your 1st purchase, check the returns policy carefully, as some companies won’t accept returns once the shoes have been worn.

By following these straightforward axioms and recollecting that comfort and a good fit are your concerns, you should be capable of finding the right pair of designer shoes that will last you for years yet to come. Top Tips For Buying Men’s Shoes texas

Home daycare owner. How much to expect in taxes?

I’ve run a home daycare since January to stay home with my son. I know that I can deduct auto, some sq. footage of the home, food for the kids. I also donated a ton of clothing, shoes, and some new toys to Goodwill with pictoral support. Should my husband and I do a joint filing? Can we qualify for the child tax credit if we do separate taxes? How much should I expect to pay before the deductions? I made appx. $18,000 this year without taxes deducted. Living in Texas. So confused!
I’ve shuttled one of the kids several times when the Mother was unable to pick up on time and I was headed out the door, so I can do the auto ded.

Auto can be deducted only if you are using your car to transport the kids you are watching at your daycare.

The clothes, toys etc can be deducted as charitable donations if you itemize and you have the receipts from Goodwill – the amount of the deduction is their thrift store value, not their new value.

Your self employment tax will be a little over 14% of your net income from the daycare, your total received minus allowable deductions. Your federal income tax amount will depend on your JOINT income with your spouse if you file joint, and filing joint will almost surely save you money. You are allowed to file separately if you want to, but the rates are much higher and there are many credits you aren’t eligible for, so it will most likely cost you more in total taxes for the two of you. If you file separately, yes the person who claims the child as a dependent also gets the child tax credit.

Alicante – Things to do and See – Castles, History City Tours

Alicante Airport Car Rental

Santa Barbara Castle, Alicante City

Santa Barbara CastleYou can’t fail to notice this impressive castle situated on an outcrop over looking Alicante City. It’s one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe and covers the complete summit of the Benacantil Mountain. Originally built by the Moors in the 10th century, the castle received its name from the conquest of King Alfonse the Wise that took place on 4th December 1248: Saint Barbara’s day. Over the following centuries it was developed and extended leaving it with three main areas all dating from different eras.

Castle over the townSanta Barbara Castle has everything you would expect, cannons, a palace, dungeons, a moat, the ruins of a small church and of course that famous lookout tower. From all around the walls you get the most fantastic views: a definite photo opportunity. And when you’re tired of walking up and down steep paths, peering over cliff edges and pondering the places from where boiling oil was thrown, there are two café areas where you can take a break in the shade of pine trees.

The castle is free to visit and there are two entrance points. If you’re feeling energetic you can walk along the road that winds around the back of the mountain, or if you’re short of time you can drive. The easier way, incurring a small charge (but free if you are disabled or an EU senior citizen) is via an elevator going up through a tunnel carved out of the rock. You find the entrance opposite the Postiguet beach area.

Alicante Santa Barbara Castle is an excellent place to visit at anytime of the year. In the height of summer it’s a perfect place to catch the sea breeze, whilst in the cooler months the walk up to the castle through the parks and pine wood allows you time to reflect on the difficulties of capturing it.

insiders tip: Take a look at the rocky outcrop just below the lookout point: depending on the angle that you view it, you will be able to see the outline of a Moor’s face!

History of Alicante
Castle Evenings

Castle at NightIn the summer months of July and August the Town Hall hosts a programme of special ‘castle evenings’. These usually consist of concerts held on Friday and Saturday nights in the courtyard of Santa Barbara Castle. They’re free (limited only by the maximum capacity of the venue) and start at 22.00hrs. Being out under the stars on a balmy evening, listening to music with the backdrop of a medieval castle is a truly enchanting experience.
Castillo de San Fernando (St Ferdinand Castle)

As if one castle wasn’t enough, Alicante goes one better and has two! The Castillo de San Fernando was built at the beginning of the 19th century on Tossal Hill as part of Alicante’s defence against Napoleon’s advance. Sadly it proved useless and was abandoned shortly after. It still has an ornate doorway that helps give a sense of the design, and part of its walls are well preserved should you want to take a look.

Museums and Art Galleries

Museo MarqAlicante City is full of all kinds of museums and art galleries, from the drier subjects of archaeology to the more fun ones like bullfighting and from classical paintings through to Contemporary. We would certainly advise you to visit the Tourist Information Office to get a complete list of all there is to see as new ones are always opening up – so, with something for everyone let us give you a taster!
Museo de Arte de Siglo XX La Asegurada (Museum of Contempory Art)

Tel : (+34) 96 5140959 / 96 514 94 69 Plaza de Santa Maria, 3, Alicante

Museo AseguratHere is a perfect example of old meets new. This building, dating from 1687 and previously a granary, is one of the oldest in Alicante, now however it is home to this art gallery which houses one of the most important contemporary art collections existing in Spain today. Donated in 1977 by local artist and sculpture, Eusebio Sempere, it consists of works that he felt represented the art movement through the years. Here you can view paintings by Dali, Cocteau, Miro, Bacon and Picasso, proving you don’t have to go to Madrid to see the work of well-known artists.

Entrance is free and so are guided tours if you arrange them in advance.
Museo de Fogueres (Bonfire Festivities Museum)

Tel: (+34) 96 514 68 28 Rambla de Méndez Nuñez, Alicante.

The festival of San Juan knocks our idea of burning Guy Fawkes on a bonfire into a cocked hat! If you have ever enjoyed this fiesta and seen the intricate effigies made out of papier-mâché that are sacrificed to the flames – then you will know how delightful this museum will be to visit. For those who haven’t experienced the skill involved in creating these paper sculptures: prepare to be amazed. The museum has a number of these large creations that were saved from the flames and they’re displayed here, allowing you to study the superb craftsmanship, the use of colour and the messages the creators have tried to get across. Usefully, there is also a room allowing you to experience the festival through the use of video and photographs.
Museo Taurino (Bullfighting Museum)

Tel: (+34) 96 521 99 30 Plaza de Toros, Alicante

Bullring

Swirling capes, pin sharp swords and elaborate costumes – they’re all here, and for the less squeamish, there are also a few stuffed bulls heads around the place! Its an interesting Museum that brings together the artefacts associated with bull fighting which, whether you love or hate it, has been a part of Spanish culture for centuries.

Museo de Belenes (Nativity Museum)

Tel: (+34) 96 520 22 32 Plaza Quijano, Alicante

Situated in a typical 19th century family house in the Old Quarter of the city you will find this quaint museum. In Spain during the celebration of the Three Kings (the Christmas-time celebration) it is traditional for every home to have a nativity scene, generally homemade, in the same way that we have Christmas trees. Alicante has long associations with this craft and in this museum nativity scenes crafted in places such as Africa and India have been gathered. Depicting the life of Christ, sometimes in miniature, this museum gives you the chance to view some of these works of art.
MARQ (Museum of Archaeology)

Tel: (+34) 96 514 90 00 Plaza Dr Gomez Ulls, Alicante www.marqalicante.com

Inside Museo MarqThis museum is history brought bang up to date. No dry dusty exhibits here, what you have is the archaeological finds from the Alicante region displayed in a very modern way. Wonderfully lit and intermingled with audio-visuals, the collections come alive giving you a flavour of the various civilisations that have made Alicante their home. No wonder that it was adjudged to be Europe’s best museum in 2004!

Artefacts range from 100,000 years ago when the first human occupation occurred, through to the Roman era and right up to the mid 19th century. Alicante is very proud of this museum, and justifiably so. The underwater Exhibition is a definite must see. Taking you on a journey through the ages and showing you the part the sea has played, it ends with a dramatic reconstruction of a boat believed to have sunk in the 5th century AC.
Mubag Gravina Fine Arts Museum

Tel: (+34) 96 514 67 8013-15 Calle Gravina, Alicante www.mubag.com

Inside Museo MUBAGStep inside the door of this building and you can’t fail to be impressed by the grandeur of the stone arches that stretch around the ground floor. Once a palace owned by the Earl of Limiares, this elegant building now holds a collection of art ranging mainly from the 16th to the 20th century. Opened in 2001 the 2000 works owned by the Provincial Council are housed here and 500 of them have been selected for exhibition. Unusually these works are put into context by the use of audio-visual equipment, period furniture and textiles. The curators hope that rather than being mere spectators, visitors to the gallery will be encouraged to play a more active part in understanding the artwork.

Alicante – a tour of the more beautiful Buildings and Monuments

Town HallAlicante City has a wonderful heritage that can be experienced through many of its building and monuments. We have chosen come of the key sights to see and compiled a short tour that is easily achievable in an afternoon or morning. So put on your walking shoes and lets go!

We start off in the barrio below the Castle, and opposite the beach area, in the street called Jorge Juan as here you can visit the oldest church in Alicante.

Inside Iglesia de Santa MariaIglesia de Santa Maria (St Mary’s Church) was built in a gothic style between the 14th and 16th centuries and stands on the foundations of a Moorish mosque. There is a wide range of art kept in the church with two of the most valuable dating from the 15th century. Of particular interest is the 16th century white marble font that is attributed to the school of Michelangelo.

Town HallWalk a little further along the street toward La Ramblas and you will find the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) which, with its twin towers, strikes an impressive pose over a square lined by arcaded walkways. Step inside to see the dramatic statue of Dali, and below it, on the lowest step of the staircase, you can see the ‘cota zero’ a brass stud used to measure the height of the sea level of all Spanish Towns. But don’t stop there – go up the stairs to see the striking ‘blue’ room and the small chapel.

San NicolasStill moving towards La Ramblas, two streets back you can find the imposing Catedral de San Nicolás de Bari (Cathedral of Saint Nicholas of Bari). Completed in 1662, it dominates the warren of streets that have wrapped themselves around it. Once again this was built on the remains of a mosque (a common practice in those days, to eradicate any trace of the Moors) and has a wonderful blue dome that raises to over 45m. Do visit inside the Cathedral and have a glance at the communion chapel, it’s considered one of the most beautiful in Spain.

Barrio Santa CruzWalking a little way along past the Cathedral you start to climb uphill in to the area known as Santa Cruz. Here amongst narrow streets more reminiscent of Seville you will find the Chapel of Santa Cruz (Holy Cross). Constructed at the end of the 18th century it once formed part of the old town walls and now plays a large part in the Easter celebrations when one of the large heavy floats containing a religious icon is expertly maneuvered around the tight bends and carried into the church.

Theatro PrincipalNow head back to La Ramblas and about half way up turn left onto Teatro Street and you will see the Teatro Principal (Main Theatre). This is a fine example of neo-classical construction and when it was completed in 1847 the interior was designed to be as grand as the exterior: in its day it was considered quite audacious! This is the centre of culture for the city where performances of ballet, opera and theatre can be enjoyed – so do check out the programme of events.

Central MarketCarrying on to the top end of La Rambla and across the road is the Mercado Central (Central Market). The art deco building has two floors; meat is sold on one and fish on another. This impressive building is usually a hive of activity most mornings and gives you an opportunity to experience a slice of Spanish life! At the back of the mercado is the daily flower market: full of colour and perfume – don’t miss it!

BullringFinally carry on along the street called Calderon de la Barca (running from the back of the market) and at the top you will come across the fabulous Plaza de Toros (Bullring). Built in 1849 it is one of the oldest in Spain and is still in use today. Here you will find a museum dedicated to bullfighting where artifacts such as capes and costumes are on show along with the occasional stuffed bulls’ head. If you visit on Saturday morning there is usually a busy market being held. Outside the bullring is a marvelous bronze statue of racing bulls, whilst the square that the bullring is on is filled with jets of water that bubble up from the pavements – great for the kids to jump over on a hot summers day!

If you’ve reached this far then you may want to walk a few hundred meters to the right where you will be able to view what was once the poorhouse of Alicante. Formally a Bishop’s palace, the building that dates from 1752 became a tobacco factory in 1801 and until recently was still functioning as one.
Archaeological Site

The Ibero-Roman City of Lucentum was found on the hill known as Tossal de Mansis in the later part of the 18th century. This ‘city’ which covered 30,000m2 is the origin of Alicante and it has been listed as a National Historical site since 1961. Only 200m of its 1.3km of streets have been excavated but the finds have included sections of the ancient city walls from the 3rd century BC and pottery from the late 5th century BC. As a city, Lucentum was riding high in the first century of the Christian era and at the site you can view remains of its streets, thermal baths and also the homes of its inhabitants.

How to donate running shoes to people in Africa?

I want to get other kids in my school involved with a program that would send old (but still usuable) running shoes to less fortunate kids in poor countries. Does anybody know of a really good program to send the shoes to?

Search second sole on google and email the web guy for the website and see if you can mail the shoes to the store there. Hopefully you live close to Cleveland Ohio. If not sorry but at least you have an option. I just know this running store has a box for shoes for kids in Africa.
