Can the wrong shoesize make shoes painful to wear?
I think I’m a 10.5 in shoesize (men’s). For the longest time I’d wear 11.5s and 11s and never realized I probably really am a 10.5. But last year when I started my job working 8 hours walking on cement floors I realized that the Nike running shoes I was wearing (in a size 11) were extremely painful to wear after a short while. I went and got a pair of Nike Vomero 4s because they’re the most cushioned shoe Nike sells, but I found that I could wear 10.5s and I got them in 10.5s. For a year they were the most comfortable shoe and ONLY shoe that I could wear at work without pain. But I bought a pair of the Vomero 5s, the sequel to the shoes I wore all year, but in size 11. They, like the original pair of shoes I tried (that were size 11), were very painful after a day of working.
Now is it just that they changed something in the shoe, or is it because I went up half a size?
I have wide feet, with my index toe longer than the “big toe”.
If your shoes are too big, they won’t form to your foot properly, and could cause pain from the friction. Try going back to the 10.5.

5 Common Fitness Myths Busted!
Crunches are the only way of getting a 6 pack Years of poorly written men’s magazine articles and crappy infomercials selling us useless products promising to make us as ripped as the models they use to advertise has drilled the idea of crunches being the ultimate form of exercise. This is sadly completely untrue. While crunches are a fantastic way of toning up your abs they do nothing to counter the big layer of fat on top. All men have a six pack the only problem is that for most it hides under layers of fat. So while crunches can improve the size and definition of your abs you should include some cardio into your routine to make them visible. It’s best not to eat anything before a workout. This one seems like it should make sense since exercise burns calories and an empty stomach has no calories to burn so the body immediately starts burning fat for fuel… unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. Your body needs energy to run, lift weights etc so when you exercise on an empty stomach the body tries to provide energy while looking for it at the same time This can not only result in the risk of dizziness or even fainting in extreme situations it also reduces the effectiveness of your workout since low energy levels will stop you from performing at levels you should be aiming for. The best option is to have a small snack about ten to fifteen minutes before working out. Carbohydrates are the best source of energy, so have a slice of toast or a banana. Bananas also help the body fight against cramps and hence I think is the best option. Running on a treadmill puts less strain on your knees than running on concrete This is untrue. Your knees are exposed to great pressures no matter what surface you decide to run on. If you love to run and really want to make a difference to the amount of stress your knees are exposed to get a decent pair of running shoes. Don’t be shy to try on a few different ones at the store and go for the most comfortable one. Asics and Mizuno are two fantastic brands that make excellent quality running shoes. Thinking about the long term effect on your knees, mix up your cardio routine a bit. Include biking. since it’s no contact it greatly reduces the strain your knees undergo. Swimming burns more calories than running. This is completely untrue. Whilst swimming the water actually supports your weight so you work less harder moving through it than say running on ground. This is not to say swimming isn’t a fantastic exercise. It is great for targeting multiple muscle groups at the same time but when it comes down to numbers activities like running, skipping and steps are just better at burning off calories. If you aren’t sweating you aren’t working out hard enough. Sweating has nothing to do with the number of calories you are burning it is simply a method the human body applies to regulate its temperature. So in hot climates you’ll sweat even whilst doing nothing more than sitting outside whereas in colder climates you’ll hardly break a sweat doing more strenuous activities such as jogging. So sweat is by no means an accurate indication of how hard you’re working No Pain No Gain Human bodies really are remarkable creations. They are designed to be pushed hard without failing when need be. This is the reason whilst working out you can overdo it without realising at the time. Since your muscles are warmed up and adrenaline levels are higher than normal you often don’t feel the soreness straight away. Just remember if it hurts a lot you are doing something very wrong. Quite often people used to working out quit for a while and when they return to it they expect to perform at the same level they did a few months ago. That just isn’t possible so take precaution and always ease yourself into a work out plan.

Fitting Exercise Shoes – Your Feet Deserves More
Are you wondering why your feet always give your problems when you exercise? It is important to find the right exercise shoes which can provide the right comfort and support for your feet. There are more than 60 million of Americans who are suffering from feet problems everyday, are you one of them?
You can walk around and jog around with happy feet, and perform best during exercise and sports, because having the right shoes can alleviate the pain your feet are suffering from. Here are some important tips for you to look out for so that the next time when you go shopping for a pair of exercise shoes, you will be able to find the right size and comfort for your feet.
First of all, make sure that you go buy shoes in the later part of the day because your feet will swell up in the second half of the day. This allows you to choose the maximum shoe size for yourself. In addition, make sure that you bring a pair of socks along with you so that you can easily gauge the right size.
Next, heels are very important and you need to check and make sure the exercise shoes are comfortable for your heels. Make sure that there are no rough edges and you can balance well on them before buying the shoes. If the sales assistant allows, you should always test run the shoes before buying them. This will help you to better understand and know the right fit of shoes.

Sports shoes are probably the most important piece of equipment you’ll buy so it’s vital you pick the right pair.
Many people don’t realise there are big differences in the way sports shoes support your feet. It’s not good for your feet if you play football or tennis in the same trainers you use for jogging.
Mike O’Neill of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists says serious back, knee and hip pain, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints (leg pain), traumatised toes and painful blisters are some of the conditions people wearing ill-fitting trainers may face.
“Unfortunately, 65% of the UK’s recreational sportsmen and women wear the wrong shoes for their chosen sport,” he says. “Trainers are the most important piece of fitness equipment you’ll ever buy and changing what you wear on your feet can prevent injuries.”
Football Football can put a lot of stress on the feet, especially when playing on hard surfaces such as AstroTurf. The boots can also put pressure on your feet, and it’s not uncommon for a footballer to suffer from corns, calluses or damaged, thickened and ingrown toenails. A good, well-fitting pair of boots is essential and there shouldn’t be any signs of pressure on the foot after a game or training session.
Dancing A dancer’s feet can experience a lot of wear and tear. Common foot problems include metatarsalgia (painful condition affecting the metatarsal region of the foot), plantar fascitis (heel pain), shin splints, Achilles tendonitis and calluses. Pain at the front of the foot is common because many dance movements involve landing on the front of the foot after a jump, and friction blisters can be caused by ill-fitting shoes.
Racquet sports It’s important when playing racquet sports, such as tennis or squash, to choose shoes specifically designed for the purpose. These sports involve a lot of side-to-side movement and running shoes won’t offer the right stability. Racquet sport shoes are heavier and stiffer than running shoes, as their toes are built for stop-and-go action. Comfort should be your number one priority and it’s important to replace your sports shoes frequently.
Running Running shoes are great for running and only running. They’re very flexible, allowing the foot to bend and flex through each step, but they’re not suitable for sports such as tennis that involve sideways stepping.
It’s a good idea to get your running shoes properly fitted to suit your foot type. If they’re too small, they can cause blisters and black toenails. There are many types of trainers on the market, so it’s advisable to find a specialist retailer who will assess your foot and find the right shoe for you.
London Marathon Store manager Gary Malmström says it’s important to ensure you buy a shoe appropriate to your gait (that’s how your foot reacts when you run). “All good specialist running shoe retailers will offer gait analysis in order to get you in the right type of running shoe,” he says.
Walking and hiking Walking is a great way to start a fitness regime, while the more adventurous go for hiking. It’s good for your cardiovascular health but is lower impact and so comes with less risk of injury.
The Ramblers Association (see Useful links) offers the following advice on the best footwear for walking and hiking:
For short walks in urban areas or easy countryside, all you need is a good comfortable pair of shoes that won’t cause blisters. Use tough shoes that are a good fit, with an arch support, a slightly elevated heel and ‘breathable’ uppers such as leather. Casual shoes or quality trainers (sneakers) with heavy soles will do.
If you go walking regularly, you could invest in a pair of proper walking shoes or some lightweight walking boots. These will give your feet and ankles proper support and will be waterproof. For highland walks over difficult terrain, however, good walking boots are essential.
Other sports
Cross-trainers are stiffer, provide more support for side-to-side movements, and can be used across a range of activities.
Sports shoes, ideal for basketball, netball and so on, give a combination of flexibility and sideways support.
Fitness shoes combine flexibility, support and cushioning to absorb impact and lessen shock to the feet. They’re ideal for aerobics.

What To Watch Out For When You Run On A Hot Day
Running generates heat as it torches away the calories. Still that is no excuse to stop running in summer. Just run early in the morning or late in the evening to escape the blazing sun.
In the sweltering heat, remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. If you are going to run for an hour or longer, bring along a bottle of water and drink as you run to rehydrate yourself. Drink a glass of water before and after your run.
As you run, your body sweats to cool you down. In warm weather, you lose even more water through sweat than on cooler days. The thing to watch out for is dehydration. If you lose too much water and don’t drink enough to stay hydrated, you can experience headaches, dizzyness, disorientation and vomiting. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop running and seek medical help at once!
When you run during the day, protect your skin from the sun. Slather on a sunscreen with SPF15 or higher 30 minutes before you go for your run. The sun’s rays damage your skin. Sure, that tan looks good, but the damage your skin sustains will surface later in life, if you don’t get sunburnt first. Sun damage can show up as premature wrinkles, age spots or even skin cancer. The free radicals you get from exposure to the sun’s rays damage your skin at cellular level. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, hence, on top of sunscreen, it might be a good idea to include plenty of antioxidant-rich fruit and veggies in your diet when you run. The strongly colored fruits and vegetables are the riches in antioxidants.
Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes as excessive sun exposure can increase your risk of cataracts later on in life.
Protect your head from the blazing sun’s rays with a baseball cap. The last thing you want is a massive headache from an overheated, unprotected head when you run.
What are you wearing for your run, besides a good pair of running shoes?
You could run in any old t-shirt and shorts, but your run would be more enjoyable if you dress appropriately for it.
When the weather gets hot, cotton is the favourite natural fabric to wear as it is breathable. While cotton may be the perfect summer fabric, but not when you run or jog or work out. Wear cotton and you will stay drenched in sweat with your clothes stuck to your skin. The cotton won’t wick away the sweat as well, nor would it dry as quickly as synthetics that were developed for active wear. The best fabrics for running clothes or sportswear are supplex, dri-fit, coolmax and ultrasensor. You will feel cooler in clothes made of these new-fangled fabrics as sweat evaporates more quickly, taking the heat with it.
One of the great things about running in summer, late spring or early fall is the sheer convenience of the sport. All you need is your running shoes, a t-shirt and a pair of running shorts and your sports bra. When it gets colder, you can switch to sweat pants and sweat shirts or even layer your clothes when it gets really chilly.
No matter what you wear, just watch the fabric. It must be breathable. In other words, it must wick the sweat away.
Toenail problems when running/walking too much. Later on, fungus atacks. What should I do for the 2 problems?
I am 66 and live in a hot and humid part of Brazil. Almost daily I run 2km + walk 4km. Monthly, I take a Saturday and try to run 8km + walk 32 km. When I try this, I always have problems with my toe nails: they nails bruise, crack, have dark blood under them, finaly I feel some pains and have to stop. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Weeks later, fungus atack the injured nails, and I have to take antifungics. Probably the fungus is because of the unavoidable sweat? In this case, IS THERE AN OPEN SANDAL THAT AVOID FUNGUS ATACK? The sandals shoul be confortable enough for loooooong walks. By the way, at first my running shoes were too narrow for long distances, halfway the feet swell a bit. Now I wear bigger shoes and 2 pairs of thick socks, this helped a lot. Halfway, I go to just 1 pair of socks.
My toenails always are near falling off or are blackened with blood. My doctor and coaches suggest a possible better shoe fit, wearing a pair of ankle and longer socks, and possibly running on softer terrain. I would recomend thoroughly taking showers and cleaning your feet and areas in-between toenails very well. Hope this helps.

Finding Pet Insurance for a Low Price
You love your pets. They are the first things you see when you wake up in the morning. They lay at your feet while your eating breakfast, they run with you as you get your early morning exercise, they look heart broken when you leave them behind, when you get home from a long day at work they are so happy to see you that they can hardly contain their joy, they listen attentively as you rant and rave about the trails and tribulations of your day, at night they crawl into bed with you and keep the nightmares at bay while you sleep. What they don’t do is criticize you, judge you, or abandon you.
There is very little you wouldn’t do for your pets. That’s what you think almost everyday of the year but on the days you have to take them to the vet and pay the obligatory bill you have to wonder. All your cat had done was a treatment for a mild case of ear mites. And your dog had been a yearly rabies vaccination. The whole processes for both pets took less then fifteen minutes. How could it possible cost so much?
You might be able to see the benefits of pet health insurance. You might salivate at the idea of not dealing with the ginourmous vet bills you get every six months ago. You might even daydream about the day you don’t dread the financial repercussions of taking your dog or cat the vet. But right now you simply don’t think you can afford to monthly bill a pet health insurance bill would put on your budget, after all its not like having pet health insurance would make the vet bills completely disappear, more then likely you would still have to pay the office visit.
You might not think you can afford pet health insurance at the moment but don’t walk away from an offer, not yet. Looking at a policy does not mean that you have to walk away from it. If you are a clever bargain shopper there are ways to find pet health insurance at a low cost.
If you have more then one pet you probably automatically qualify for a lower premium. Lots of pet health insurance companies offer multiple pet discounts. There is one little catch, a lot of the companies only offer multiple pet discounts if the pets are the same species. In other words if you have two cats that you insure you will pay a lower premium but if you have a cat and a dog lots of pet health insurance companies will consider it two completely different accounts.
Are you starting to despair? Don’t worry two much, while many companies don’t consider pets of separate species ground for a multiple pet discount a lot of those same companies have a policy that offers discounts to customers who carry more then policy with the company. The multiple policy discount usually takes about ten percent off the total bill but a good bargains shopper can find companies that offer higher discounts all they have to do is be willing to spend the time to shoe around.
I want a some indoor soccer shoes that look and feel good, are low on price, can be worn casually, and can be worn to run maybe a mile outside in. Any ideas?
thanks.
well, as stated earlier, we dont know your style or kind of foot {wide or narrow}… but for me, i really like the nike air tiempo mystic fora few reasons. A} they feel great and i wear them as casual shoes as well as PE shoes. B} they have this peice of cloth at the toes that prevent your foot from blowing out the front of your shoes. C} they are made out of leather, and therefore feel great and I personally dont get blisters from him… D} They are cheap! only around $50 for a pair and they last forever! Mine lasted for a year and i wore them every day for many hours… and they withstood a lot of wear and tear! I would recommend them very much!
